Honda Civic Hybrid Gets 50MPG

Critics questioned whether the Honda Civic Hybrid could beat out their green car competition and produce over 40 MPG. Not only did they achieve this, it went further and received 50 MPG.

Honda has had no problem acheiving this feat on the test track. But now, a real world driving test has been completed, and while stopping and going at speeds of 60-65 mph, the car still hit its goal.

One test even had a Honda Civic Hybrid traveling down the roads of Southern California at 75 miles per hour plus! The car was still able to keep within the arena of 40-45 mpg.

Topping off the Civic Hybrid's 12.3 gallon tank can now cost upwards of 30 bucks. At 40 mpg you can travel 492 miles before hitting "E"; at 50 mpg that no-reserve range increases to 615 miles, covering an additional 123 miles!

Introduced to the North American market in 1973, the Honda Civic has grown from a diminutive $2,200 economy car weighing just 1,500 pounds to a comfortable five passenger vehicle that's a true jack-of-all-trades.
